Why defining the Fundamentals of the
Faith
is so important?
by Missionary David Cox (c) 2003
Some may laugh at this attempt to define the Fundamentals of the Faith as
being frivolous, impossible, and ridiculous, or even being unnecessary and
dangerous, but this is very important. The Christianity who does not understand
and hold clear and firm what is important and essential will easily "lose
focus" and slip off of these Fundamentals. Moreover, Satan will constantly
challenge these Fundamentals in his life and church and ministry by slyly
positioning people, ministries, opportunities and events with people that do not
hold to the Fundamentals so that the faithful Christian will "slip".
Moreover, Satan is very smart. He does not attack everything and every point.
All he has to do is to gain on one of the most essential points of Christianity,
and the person, church, ministry, or group no longer has a true Christianity but
a false pretend Christianity which is exactly what Satan wants.
The Fundamentals of the Faith need to be clearly defined, supported by
Scripture, and expressed in such a way that when Satan attacks them, even simple
laymen can refute these attacks. This is very necessary because many times these
attacks will be outside of the church where only "simple laymen" are
involved, in a family setting, at work, or elsewhere. What happens is that that
person is lost to a cult or false religion because these essentials were not
clarified sufficiently for them to defend themselves on that point.
