Our Doctrinal Beliefs

Brief Doctrinal Statement

We believe in . . .

  1. The inspiration of the Bible (both the Old and the New
    Testaments);

  2. the creation of man by the direct act of God;

  3. the incarnation and virgin birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ;

  4. His identification as the Son of God; His vicarious atonement for the sins
    of mankind by the shedding of His blood on the cross;

  5. the resurrection of His body from the tomb;

  6. His power to save men from sin;

  7. the new birth through the regeneration by the Holy Spirit; and

  8. the gift of eternal life by the grace of God.

Brief Positional Statement

Briefly, please note some of our positions . . .

  1. We are Fundamental, Separated Independent Baptists.
  2. We are premillennial, pretribulational in our eschatology.
  3. We do not go to Southern Baptist, Charismatic, nor other churches (especially convention churches) that are involved in compromise.
  4. We do not accept women preachers, divorced men in the ministry, nor practicing homosexuals either as ministers nor as church members (homosexuals should be disciplined and eventually expelled from the church fellowship unless they repent of their sins).
  5. We use the King James Version in English, and the Reina Valera 1960 in Spanish. I do not now nor have I even used or recommended any other English version of the Bible. I am not extremist in my position on Bible versions (like Peter Ruckman for example). My conviction is that as a Baptist, I believe in soul liberty, and since I cannot find a verse that says, "Use the KJV exclusively", I must give some latitude with my Christian brethren as to those who wish to use some other version. Personally, I use the KJV, and I do not like to frequent nor look for support from churches that use modern poor versions of Scripture like the NIV, which is a loose commentary on the Bible rather than a translation. 
  6. We believe in eternal security, but with the warning of Scripture for every believer to work out his own salvation with fear and trembling.
  7. We are against modern tongues, holding it is a manifestation of demonic activity, not the Holy Spirit. Therefore we do not visit or cooperate in any way with any individual, church, or organization that is involved in tongues, healings, or other distinctly Charismatic-Pentecostal activities.
  8. We are not Armenian nor Calvinist in our theology, although we do strongly believe in the sovereignty of God. We believe that Calvinism leads many a passive position in missions, in evangelism, and in most efforts to change people through the power of God. I understand that some Calvinists believe that "we" are the means by which God works, therefore they are more strongly evangelistic, more strongly missions oriented, etc. I count these people as "being balanced" in their Calvinism. Personally, I see God present the Gospel to all humanity, and that is the plan of attack I personally follow. It is between God and those individuals and I simply do what God tells me to do without trying to work out a theology that guts my evangelistic and missions efforts. I see Paul as providing the Calvinist with a great deal of his favorite verses on election, yet Paul was the most evangelistic and missions oriented of the NT ministers, therefore, a clear understanding of election should motivate the minister to sacrifice all to reach the lost, and unfortunately I see most Calvinist's as very weak on their efforts and motivation in this area.
  9. We do not follow the Jack Hyles line of evangelism in that the gospel is presented void of true biblical repentance (remorse and a changing of direction as to a person's disposition and attitude towards his sin), and an emphasis more on a work of prayer (acceptance) in stead of a faith reception (changing the beliefs and therefore the actions and attitudes of a person).
