Using the Main Menu option (File -> Copy Verses) or pressing F5 will bring up the copy verses dialog box.
Step 1 - Select the range of verses you want to copy These two buttons will basically be what is selected in the Bible View window when you invoked this dialog box (pressed F5). If it is only one verse, that will show in both buttons. If you selected in the Bible View a selection, the left button will be the beginning verse, and the right button the ending verse.
Step 2 - Select translation and book names format Here you can pick any Bible version or translation you want as long as it is installed in TW. The short book names refers to using the Bible Book abbreviation instead of writing out the complete Bible name for the Book of the Bible in the Bible reference. Step 3. Select the format of the header and/or footer There are three places which TW will automatically allow you to place information, in the header (before the verses), in the footer (after the verses) and in the individual verses. The keys for selecting things in the header and footer are
You can insert other text here also if you want, but these are the automatically recognized variables within the program. Step 4. Select the format of the verses TW allows you to define your own mixture of variables here, but it also has a very good selection of premade combinations.
It is best to open the dialog box and select these options one by one and see the preview panel to see how they look to you.
Preview Panel As you make choices on the steps, the preview panel will reflect those choices.

Alternative forms to copy verses Because this page deals with copying verses into other programs, it is best to remember here that this is not the exclusive only way to copy verses from TW into other programs. Copy and Paste - You can use the regular Windows procedure of selecting a text in the Bible in TW and copy and paste, Ctrl C to copy, change programs to your word processor and Ctrl V paste. The disadvantage to this method is that TW will not automatically insert the Book and Chapter information into the selected text. Right Click Context Menu - An alternative is to use the right click context menu (which also will not include the Book and Chapter information). Select a verse or passage in the Bible View window, and right click on it.
Here you are presented with options, and you can copy the verse, the selection, or use the verse selected as a starting point and copy to a certain verse. Monitoring the Windows Clipboard - Probably the best way to get Bible verses from TW into another program is to use this nifty feature of THEWORD. Note that you need to activate the monitoring of the clipboard for this to work. Please see my page "Use of TW with other Programs" devoted to this procedure. |
