TheWord Free Bible Program
by Pastor-Missionary David Cox

Everything here is free. THEWORD Bible program (or TW) is property of Costas Steriou, and these pages are my help pages and module downloads for his program. I have no relationship with Costas except a deep appreciation for his program. My site is for helping people study the Bible. Please donate to this ministry so that we can stay online and growing. Your donations motive us to make more modules.

If you download a module, God bless you, use it for the Lord.
If you download a dozen, why not help us keep this going?
If you download almost everything, don't be so stingy, we aren't!
Donate something! $5, $10 dollars, something.

IMPORTANT: This site is now hosted on twmodules.com and mirrored on davidcox.com.mx/twm/
if one is ever down, go to the other.

Welcome & Introduction

Why use THEWORD Free Bible Program?

Invite me to lunch as a way
of saying thank you!
Gal 6:6 Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.

If you buy the books and resources I have on my site in a bookstore, you would pay a lot of money for all of them. I have over 1000 religious reference books for download. Books run from $20 to $50 today, but I don't charge anything for them. God has commanded that those who benefit from a ministry should "communicate" (economically) with those who teach them spiritually. All I ask is that you consider donating to our ministry the price of a meal once a year to help encourage us to continue on in this endeavor.

One of the growing problems of having Bible Study resources in the Internet and Computer age is having a glut of information that you cannot manage. Simply put, you may have a specific book exactly on what you are preparing a sermon or Sunday School for, but a great set of problems presents itself:

(1) You are not sure if you saw it somewhere else (bookstore, somebody else's house/church, or mentioned by somebody else),

(2) if you do have it or not have it, you don't know where it is to even start looking for it,

(3) your resources are no longer in book format, but possibly in a book, in a photocopy (difficult to classify and store), or possibly electronic (what was it in Microsoft Word DOC, Adobe Acrobat PDF, MP3 audio sermon, HTML, a book in some obscure format of a paid for Bible program, etc.). Not knowing what format it is in, you also don't know where it physically is on your computer, nor if it is on an original CD of some Bible program, or on your hard disk, etc.

(4) Even if you physically know where the resource is, you still have a problem in that many times in is something you read really good on your topic, but in a Systematic Theology like Charles Hodge's work of 3 volumes in book form (1000s pgs). So you go to the index, and still cannot find it. Maybe even you yourself preached a sermon or gave a Sunday School class on the thing and had it as part of the notes of some sermon or class.

(5) Another problem surfaces if you have all your Bible Study resources in electronic format for the PC, in that you get something else you think is really great, and you would like to include it into your Bible study resources. #1 it is in paper form, #2 it is in some other format (DOC, PDF, HTML, etc).

All of this can be solved with THEWORD. By putting your Bible Study resources in THEWORD format, which is simple, easy, and searchable, you can get to what you have very quickly, automatically have verse popups on every verse reference in the text, and search and organize your material to be useful and accessible. Being useful without being accessible negates the usefulness of the resource.

In THEWORD there are some very important concepts that you need to "get a handle on" very quickly, the first of which is that of layouts. A layout is a subset of all the modules (books) that you have. For example, scan the side bar at left, and you will see I have grouped my Download library by themes, doctrinal, individual areas such as Greek, Hebrew, Church History, etc, by author, etc. You can search everything in THEWORD format also if you cannot find something by a subset. Layouts help you to group and make smaller subsets of your resources that are searchable. To learn more go to my help page Creation and Use of Layouts.

Another concept that is unique to my website, (not THEWORD itself) is my rating system.

Introduction to my Website

This is my website for support for THEWORD (www.theword.gr). On this website you will find help information on installing and using the free Bible program, THEWORD by Costas Serguiou. I am not related to him, nor do I have any financial relations or dealings with him, except for an occasion gift to his ministry for making this program available for free. I am a missionary and pastor in Mexico City, Mexico since 1985.

On this website you will find help information for making your own modules, and I have made modules for use in my own personal Bible study for my sermons and books. I share these with you for free, but please consider making a donation to my efforts. This encourages me to keep sharing my work with others, and it helps me pay the bills.

Please note that I have in the past done this same thing with the free Bible program e-Sword, and I am making some changes in this website from what I did with e-Sword. I am now dividing my modules for download into groups which will be more useful to some people. Why I am dividing these modules into groups is because I just have too many books, and the trash gets in my way of the good stuff.

For e-Sword Users looking for Modules

I am converting all of my e-Sword module library into THEWORD modules. This will take some time, because of the extra formatting necessary for these modules to look good in TW.
