Slide Show of Independence Day (September 16) (8 photos)
by David R. Cox

Mexican Independence Day is the 16th of September. One of the customs of this day is to go down to the Zocalo of your town, (almost every city, town, and village has a center square-park called the Zocalo), and exactly at midnight, they do the "grito" (shout of independence), which "Viva Mexico, Viva Mexico, Viva Mexico".

Above - What is independence day without school kids marching in parades?

Below - Of course every parade has to have the charros (Mexican cowboys).

Of course even the young guys get involved in the parade.

And we can't leave the girls out of the parade.
