The Basilica of Guadalupe is a Catholic Cathedral in northern Mexico City. The first Cathedral was built on the muddy soil of Mexico City without a proper foundation and is sinking. It is no longer used. The Catholic Church built a newer Cathedral to one side. This Cathedral houses the cape of Juan Diego, who supposedly saw the Virgin Mary in a vision.

Above: This is a postcard of the two basilicas, the old and the new (to the left).
Below: This is the entrance of the new Basilica. Notice in this postcard the inset of the virgin with Juan Diego. As many as 100,000 people visit the Basilica on December 12th, the Day of the Virgin.
