Cox Prayer Update for December 18th, 2007

Dear praying friends,

Many times people do not realize the situation that missionaries are in as far as the ups and downs of economies and our monthly income. CNN had a news story recently (Nov 11) titled "Sinking dollar, rising Portfolio". Here Paul Lim of Money Magazine says "The dollar has had declines of 25 percent or more twice in the recent past; the current fall is 36 percent since 2002 against a basket of foreign currencies." That means that what we earned from support in 2002 now has 36% less purchasing power in Mexico where we live and work. Please pray for our income as we wish to continue working in our ministry here, and do not want to spend years in the USA trying to recuperate declining support.

Some Personal Requests
First of all I would please ask that you pray for our health situation. All four of us are down with coughing and sore throats. It is cold here, which means for us a little above freezing. But this is very rare here for so much time. As such, all the buildings down here are concrete (walls, floors, and ceilings), and it makes things a real ice box. Nobody anywhere here has central heat, and with brown outs as it is, connecting a space heater is just not a good idea. We have a small one in the kids room. We still have several months to go of cold weather. We have gone to the doctor once or twice a week for the last month with one to four of us. We all had injections of penicillin. That's 5 injections, one per day. Tule had 2 per day. Down here doctors and nurses don't give the injections, just anybody does. So I gave Tule hers, and I helped Tule give the kids theirs. Fun stuff. Kelsie really, really, really does not like the needle. I am getting pretty good at it really. :=)

We would also ask special prayer for our church. Satan continues to attack and discourage our people with personal conflicts. I have preached hard against a lot of these problems, but nonetheless, they come up over and over again. I am not the center of these conflicts, and I don't even know of them until they get a little serious, but there are individuals that are contentious, and say things to other members, and say offensive things to visitors. These people never get offended themselves and leave it seems, but always cause everybody else to have a problem.

Sunday I preached on Christian Cannibalism from Gal 5:15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. The cause of Cannibalism (no consciousness of the unity of our body 1Cor 12:12-27) things which indicate cannibalism between brethren (Anger, envy, gossip, and contention), and the remedy for it (deny yourself, humility and meekness, don't offend and don't allow yourself to be offended, service instead of arrogance and superiority over your brethren). If any pastors out there wants my outline I will translate it and post it or send it to you if you ask.

We would ask your prayers that God would overrule. We have had low attendance as some families just refuse to come back to church. I visit them and they say they will come, but don't show up. We had 2 elderly (60+) ladies come out on visitation that was their first time to do something like that. Satan doesn't like to see this, and he is stirring and causing problems. We are planning on a December meal this coming Sunday with between 60-70 people even though a bunch aren't coming.

We would also ask special prayer for Raul and Eufemia which haven't come since the summer, and Carlos and Claudia which are having problems with some of our other members.

Website
Well, I always wanted to reach as many people as I could, and it seems as though the Lord is slowly opening that door through our website. Basically I am trying to find good material in English, make it available, and slowly translate it over into Spanish. But things have taken a turn this past month of November. All this year so far, I have had between 11-20 gigabytes of information downloaded each month from my site. To get a handle on that, that is between 17 to 28 Commercial CD's of information people download every month. In October we broke all records with 37 gigas downloaded, and again in November we broke the record again with 51 gigas downloaded. That would be around 72 commercial CDs full of information.

The USA and Unknown countries were the top countries (18 GB, 12GB). Mexico tied with Singapore as third and fourth 1.1 GB. After that Chile, then Spain, then Argentina, with Venezuela, Canada, Colombia, and Guatemala tying the next level. South Korea downloaded 16 MB, and India 8MB of information. "Charles Darwin" in Spanish continues to be a hot search topic, as well as homiletics, tracts, and sermons.

My Book Printing Ministry
To let you know how this is working out, I have made my books short works (30 to 80 pages) and have printed them to a pdf file so that anybody can download them and then print one single original, and photocopy them in masse. They need a long neck stapler, but the cost is literally their own cost. If they have access to a photocopy machine, then it is the cost of paper and toner. I get nothing from it (at least not this side of heaven). I am able to do this because of my own financial supporters who give monthly so that poor Christians around the world can get good literature.

My own books in printable format is a hot download these days (6675 visits to the index page in Nov).  My book on the pagan roots in Christmas traditions was downloaded 674x. My book on Prosperity Gospel was downloaded 638x. This is not the one that is easy to read, but the one to print out your own copies. So I think most of those downloads are being mass reproduced. Again everything I write is free, so most of those downloads represent 10-40 copies actually printed I would think. David Yonggi Cho and What's wrong with Cells was 434x, and my Positive Confession Movement book 425x in November. Spiritual Baptism (417x), alcoholism (337x), and abortion (266x).

In my tract page, Darwinism was downloaded 757xm Benny Hinn 284x, and Why we don't worship the Mary 234x. My most downloaded sermons were on marriage 116x, biblical discipleship 96x, and spiritual warfare 75x. Those downloaded in MP3 format were "I would desire God" 65x, Hermeneutics 35x, Critical Points in Salvation 29x. We continue to put between 20-50 religious reference books into e-Sword Bible format each month. I get many emails about this. I found a really good one by a Mackie (Gift of Tongues) on the clinical aspects of tongues, relating tongues speaking to crazies, false religions, and witchcraft.

I have had several people from Cuba write me complaining that they cannot purchase Christian literature in their country. I am helping them by sending them things from my writings, which they can freely photocopy and distribute. It is amazing how God continues to open doors for our ministry to expand around the world. I am working on finishing a new book on Angels this Christmas. It is basically finished and I am proofreading it before giving it to Tule to proofread. I hope to post it before the end of the year. Its about 55 pages long, and deals with Angels, demons, Satan, the angel of the Lord, etc.

We have a young married fellow that was into something that has left him with seeing and hearing demons. I did this because of his problems, but before I got it finished I had another person write me an email with questions and problems of demonic influence in his life. I sent him a rough draft.

Please pray for us. Our income continues to dwindle as far as prices here, and every year the prices of things go up, and our support stays the same or goes down. Please pray for our supporting churches that they can at least maintain their present level of giving. Things continue to get rough economically down here for us, and I do not want to leave all we are doing to go up to the states for 2-3 years and try to just get our support back to where it was 8-9 years ago. It would be great if some new churches in the states would take on our support, or if some of our supporting churches could increase their support. Our supporters are a good bunch of people, and they sacrifice a lot already. Please pray for our situation.

In Christ,
David and Tule Cox

From my MailBag

Hi, I am a Cuban sister in a Baptist Church. In our church for the glory of God we have a beautiful children's ministry worked by 7 brethren in our congregation and we need help with materials for children that would help us give classes. I hope you can help... Here we do not have the possibility of Internet, so we cannot download material even though it is free, so we need to receive it by email.

May God continue to bless you and many thanks.

from Juan Ramon Junez Soliz in Nicaragua (email in Spanish)

Hi Mr. Cox. I greet you from Nicaragua. I have only recently visited your web site and actually it has left me very impressed with the topics and your writings. I have only printed out you book on Hermeneutics because it caught my attention and my intention is to learn to correctly interpret the Word of Our God and live according to His Commandments.... I attend a ministry that has just started in the city of Rivas and I would appreciate your help in enriching my understanding because I do not have resources to buy books as you know our country we do not have good paying jobs, but I have faith... I had a tragic accident on December 19th of last year and I lost 4 family members in this automobile accident, but the Lord saved me from dying, and I have dedicated my new life to know and desire to carry the word to the many who live in darkness as I was in... I am not asking for money only books so that I can read and instruct myself and be a witness of Our Lord... I am including photos of me in the hospital when they reconstructed my leg.

from Roset Ferndandez, 23 from La Rioja, Argentina (email in Spanish)

My name is Roset Fernandez... and I attend the Evangelical Christian Church (Free)... My purpose in this email is to congratulate you on the marvillous tracts that you have created, and also to ask counsel. I am in charge of the provision of evangelistic materials to groups that go out from our church to preach the gospel, and I would like to know if you would give me permission to print and distribute your tracts...
(I of course said yes)

I would just love to use and distribute such nice resources....

from Elieser Diaz Cuba
I wanted to ask you if you have the book "Christianity in Crisis" or "The Seduction of Christianity" in digital format, and if you do, can you send it to me? Here in Cuba it is extremely difficult for us to obtain Christian Literature and I am having difficulties in my church confronting the lies of the "Word of Faith" Movement, o "Super Faith". Well these liars have become idols in our churches, and have gained much strength among the pastors in all of Cuba with their Doctrines of "Prosperity, Super Faith, and Positive Confession, etc." God keep blessing you.

I replied to this pastor in Cuba with 23+ books, sermons, and tracts that I have already on my website for him to use as reference.

I would note that this last month's downloads of some of these resources: (These are all in Spanish)
David Yonggi Cho - 36x
Word of Faith - 16x
Gospel of Prosperity - 49x
Punishment of God (Hell) - 61x
Marks of a False Prophet - Tract 57x, Book 41x

from Werner Linseele, Belgium

Werner writes... The last days, I was looking on the web for modules for E-Sword (bibles, dictionaries, commentaries). In this way, I came on your site where I could find already a lot of good downloads.

Werner asked me about a conflict in two Bible versions he has in e-Sword, because both have the same abbreviation, and one overwrites the other. We got his problem worked out (by me twiking one of the files).

from Nelson Federico Toledo de Venezuela

Blessings, I greet you. I have talked with my pastor and I am going to start helping those who want in the church by providing them e-Sword and I will be giving Sunday School classes in how to use e-Sword. I will be watching your sermon pages and in fact I have already downloaded a lot of material in order to help my brethren. Thank you servant, and may God richly bless you!

Brother Cox,

greetings in the name of the Lord.

THANK YOU so very much for your tremendous website. By far, this is the most helpful
e-sword site I've been to. I started using E-Sword about 3 years ago, but only found
your site about 8 weeks ago.

WHAT A BLESSING! I, like you, am in full time gospel ministry. Some of the materials
I've downloaded off of your site have greatly enriched my Bible study. Especially
helpful have been
  a.. Barclay's NT studies
  b.. TWOT
  c.. Wuest
d.. Evans' Bible Doctrines (a book I used in college)
  e.. Anderson's works
  f.. Berkhof's Intro to NT
  g.. Burton's Greek
Some of these works are classics in their field - and I didn't even own paper copies!

I hope others with the tools at your disposal will continue to take these "out of
copyright" works that are still classics in their respective fields and convert them
to e-sword.

Thank you so very much, and may God bless you for your labor of love!
