June 1, 2006 Cox Prayer Update
Dear Praying Friends,

I wanted to update you on a few things in our ministry and lives. First of all, please pray for Tule, my wife. She will be having laser eye treatment (out patient) on Wednesday 7th of June to fix a problem in her retina. Please pray for her.

We would also ask for your prayers for our ministry. We talked with the owner of our present place where we have services and he extended his letting us use this place for free until December. We are still looking and praying for a larger place, and most probably we will go to a movie theater in a small mall sometime before the end of the year. We praise God that Mr. Mejia let us stay a while longer to solidify our church before we move. We are running between 30 and 45 people now on most Sundays. Our present facility seats about 47 in the main auditorium. Some Sundays we are completely filled with all the children in another area.

We continue to have new people come, usually one or two families per month. Please pray that God would open doors and keep these people with us. In our day, one of the worse problems we see is church hoppers and inconsistent people who come only occasionally. We are going out two to three times a week, usually with 5 to 10 people. We see several decisions usually every week but to get them to come to church or to accept a Bible study in their homes is very difficult. Most work long hours to just survive.

On another front we would ask that you pray for our ministry. A Christian radio station in Santiago Chile has contacted me and wants to place my sermons on their radio station (for free) on a weekly basis. We are talking with them about this. One of their managers saw my website and wanted to receive our literature and place as many hours of sermons as I have on their radio station. I will have to prepare a special 50 minute version of my sermons probably. This is another "preparation" in my weekly work load. Please pray about that.

We also are wanting to place a 1 hour spot on a local radio station here. We will have to pay for this one. There is a local station that has sermons from 6AM through the day on Sunday and many hundred of thousands of people (mostly some kind of Christian) listen to this station at some point on Sunday morning while getting ready for church. Most of the preachers on this station are Pentecostal or some whacko brand of Christianity, women preachers, etc. We are wanting to put the truth in this forum. We do not have the funds at present to do this. We are checking but I think it will run us several hundred dollars per month. Please pray that we would get funds if it is God's will.

We would also appreciate your prayers for our literature ministry. We are having some problems with printers and between three printers I have at the moment, I cannot get one to print. To me this is just Satan trying to keep us from working. We have people writing us for literature every month now, and I do not have the capability to send them anything. I have invested in good a new HP printer, and we are taking it back and forth for service and repair (it is under warranty). Please pray that we can get this fixed quickly. I am printing (when I have something to print with) around 500-1000 pages per week for our literature ministry.

On another topic, I think the block that the banks put on my credit card has finally been lifted. I am not sure but apparently the economic situation here was under some kind of question as to a devaluation or something. The Mexican stock market fell 3% day before yesterday. As best as I can understand it, the Mexican banks blocked American credit cards from cash advances (somewhere around 3 months). The bank of my credit card in the states (Chase Manhattan) said there was no hold on my personal account and could not understand why I was having a problem (from their end).

We have several projects of translating or writing books for Christian workers and preachers. We put out all of our literature for free. Please pray with us that God will help us in this ministry. It is getting increasing difficult to produce things when everything goes wrong, we cannot print anything, etcetera. The people doing this translation work need to receive something for their services also.

We would also ask prayer for our website. Our ministry is reaching Spanish speaking Christians around the world. I regularly get emails now about every week of some spanish speaking pastor or Christian worker that finds our website and starts downloading material for his personal use and ministry.

Please pray for us that God will protect us and allow us to work unhindered in the ministry. We have several projects that we are working on, and we need more than anything your prayers for us.

In Christ,
David Cox
