Things you can send to help us.

Ministry of David & Tule Cox - Mexico City, Mexico

What this page is about: From time to time people ask us how they can help us besides
sending money. Sometimes it is a Sunday School class, or a Vacation Bible School, or a
Elementary School class project. We try to find things that people can help us with that they can
collect from among their church people or buy at a minor cost.

Ministry Helps

A Church to tackle sending out our snail mail prayer letters. Letters from down here cost around $3.5 to send out registered, and if you do not send them registered, then it takes up to 3 months to get to the US. We need a church to undertake this burden for us. I would send them a prayer letter once every 3 months, and they would have the mailing list, and they would simply photocopy the prayer letter and use mailing labels to send it out. I am not sure how much letters in the US cost now, but I would help with the postage.

Things we need and use and cannot get in Mexico: (no canned goods and nothing breakable)

  1. DVDs and CDs for our ministry.
  2. US Postage stamps.
  3. Simple evangelism reminders like the wordless book, or other cheap gifts to give out to Sunday School children.
  4. Mailing labels for putting our name and address on tracts and booklets (Avery Labels 5160 30 per sheet 1"x2 5/8"or Avery 5161 20 per sheet 1"x4").
  5. Whiteboards and whiteboard markers. (I use these extensively in teaching)
  6. Thank you notes, and Christmas cards.
  7. Spanish Bibles, tracts and literature if you have it available. Especially "God's Simple Plan of Salvation" by Ford Porter in Spanish.
  8. Walmart gift cards are really nice especially for buying gas.
  9. Envelopes of Italian Salad dressing that you mix up yourself (we use it in other foods like spaghetti sauce).
  10. Jello brand dessert mixes (like for cherry cheese cake) (we use these for church get togethers).
  11. Cake and Brownie mixes.
  12. $2 canned hams at Dollar General that don't need refrigeration (we give these to needy people in our church when they have economic needs, and they store well). We also use these when we bring people home after church n Sundays to fellowship with them and witness to them. Usually we take them out to eat in restaurant, but if money is tight we take them home.
  13. Packages of brownie mix, and any of those jello-dessert mixes. We use these in our church meals, but they generally don't sell them down here, and we buy a half dozen or more when we go to the border.

Russ - Has a xBox, and games for this. Clothes size 12 (as of Oct 2008).

Instructions:

Please notify me by email of what and when you send us things and where it was sent. Please note that if what you have is bulky and you are somewhere close to where we will be traveling, we may be able to pass by and pick up what you are giving us to save postage.

Our plans for going to the border next: Usually once a year, probably close to Christmas

Please note: Do not send us packages of things into Mexico without first contacting us. We are charged duty and customs without knowing what it is, and depending on what is sent, it may be as much as 50% of what you declare as the value of what you send! Books in English are exempt from this as I understand it.
