Preliminaries - Before we begin looking at actual e-Sword sites, let's talk about what people have and are doing. Many e-Sword sites are simply links to other people's e-Sword files. This is good if you cannot find anything yourself, but I offer my site as a master site of e-Sword modules are the web.

Some people are putting out original content (that they themselves write), others are putting out original e-Sword modules that they get from some other format and are putting out in e-Sword format. Many other people are simply linking to other sites (most notably the www.e-sword.net home site. Why? I don't know except that they have or think they have a mass of people who visit their site, and that is the final word on e-Sword. Anybody who has e-Sword without a doubt has gone to the e-Sword home site and has downloaded the program, and it would seem logical to also download all the modules that one wants and is there. Okay.

Some people are downloading other people's files and then putting them up on their own sites. (See my copyright page for more information about this and why this is illegal.)  Take any public domain text, reformat it, and you have created a work which is under YOUR copyright. Without permission this is simply unlawful. So only linking guys. Some people are "getting on the bandwagon" (most notably Jewish groups) and infiltrating the e-Sword community and are putting up modules for e-Sword that have nothing to do with e-Sword nor are even in the e-Sword module format.

My Terminology: (What I call these types of resources)

Original  - Anybody who is an original content producer, putting out in the form of their own writings or new works which exist in other formats which they themselves put into e-Sword format. Watch these sites carefully and check back frequently, because they will be your source to new stuff which will be exclusive with them until the copycats get a hold of their stuff.

Purchase  - These are original content producers which sell their works. Be careful here. Some people are taking things in the public domain, packaging it, and they will gleefully sell it to you, even though you can legally get this from another site for free. (e-Sword is about free Bible resources guys. Get tuned into the community. Selling is for Bible Societies, not real e-Sword users.) Note that all Bible versions that are under copyright should be purchased from the copyright owners. To my knowledge, only the Lockman Foundation has their Bibles in e-Sword, and www.bible.org has their NET Bible in a module.

Linkback  - This is for sites that have a bunch of links or files, but all from the original e-Sword site. Go to the source and skip these guys.

Copycats  - This is for sites which have the same old, same old. Seems like there is no new stuff that they can find for us and they don't put out anything themselves. Some times these sites are worth checking out if they come across something new.

Deadlink   - I use this term for a site that apparently has had e-Sword related material at some time in the past, and currently I have searched the site and can find nothing e-Sword on the site. The search engines will list the site listed with what seems valid modules or information for e-Sword, but clicking on the links to them gets you nothing. I cannot fault these guys for removing the e-Sword stuff or for not "paying the light bill" and having their site shut down. One day when I die, my site will probably experience the same thing. Some have money crunches, etc.

Tricksters   - These are the guys that have e-Sword

Passworded - I know, there is no such word. But these are the guys that have a bunch of files, and they are so precious that they have to keep them under lock and key. I do not understand the need for password protecting e-Sword files that you are making available to the rest of world. Everybody knows somebody is going to download your files and repost them in a non-password website.

eswordesp  - This tag is for e-Sword modules or help in Spanish. I work in Mexico so this is important to me.

ehelp  - This tag is for sites that give help on how to use e-Sword, on how to create your own modules, how to solve problems, or on how to use or do things in e-Sword.

GrkHeb  -  I use this tag for sites that have works in or about the original ancient languages, principally Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic. I also throw in Latin, Coptic, etc.

Module Abbreviations:

Esnips.com - It does nobody else any good if you make a literary work into an e-Sword module and you do not get it out on the Internet where other people can see it, find it, and download it. I believe that without a doubt, THE BEST PLACE TO HOST e-Sword content is at esnips.com (unless it is on your own website). They give you a gigabyte worth of space for free. If you find a better place than that, tell me and I move my stuff there. Click on the esnips.com link, and set up your free account to upload and host modules, or just go there to hunt and download modules. Note that you do not need an account to download anything. By the way, esnips also has RSS feeds that make keeping up with new posts of new modules a breeze.

My del.icio.us: http://del.icio.us/davidcoxmex/e-sword - no longer supported or updated.

My Clipmarks: http://clipmarks.com/clipper/davidcoxmex/ - no longer supported or updated.

My work plans - I am slowly going to convert everything I have to del.icio.us bookmarks or clipmarks. As I do the other things that I have e-Sword links will slowly disappear, or I will just leave them up. But I will not work anything but these two vehicles for sharing with the general public.

My personal created modules - I will host my own personally created modules on my website by the way. Since my modules are free for others to use, but not to sell or make profit by them, you may do what you wish with them, but I would request that you link to them until they disappear and you cannot find them anymore, then post them yourself on your own websites.
