Overview
Tabs and such

e-Sword is divided up into several areas of the e-Sword screen which I will call panels. They are all inside the main e-Sword screen and cannot be moved outside of that screen. Under the menu option "Tools" you will find two menu options, Graphics Viewer and STEP. These two options will open viewers outside of the main e-Sword program window.

 Tabs and such

Let's by examining the tabs on the different panels. e-Sword is a program that uses files that contain databases. Some databases are complete Bibles, New Testaments, Old Testaments, some in other languages such as Greek and Hebrew, etc. E-Sword uses commentaries and dictionaries also, as well as complete books in the topic modules.

The important thing here is to note that when e-Sword starts, it reads its home folder for the existence of these other auxiliary files and then makes a tab for each one depending on the extension of these files. In general, you will need to shut down e-Sword and restart it when you change these filenames or add modules.

IMPORTANT!!! - It is very common for new users to install a module and it does not show up. The reason being is that e-Sword was already open and it will not reread the folder. Always when you install something new, shut down e-Sword and open it back up (minimizing doesn't work here, you have to close the application completely). Also you can get into trouble trying to make changes and do things at times to e-Sword modules with other programs outside of e-Sword with e-Sword open.

Clicking on these tabs brings that file into the active area below the tab so you can see and interact with it. Under Menu - Options, we will tell you how to change these tabs so that some appear and others do not.

We should note that all of the modules in e-Sword are Microsoft Access databases, which can be generally altered if one wishes using Access.
