Preliminaries
-
A verse list is a collection of verses in a file that allows you to view
these verses quickly. It is similar to the search results after doing a
search in the Bible on a specific word.
How to make a Verse List
-
In essence all verse lists start off as the results of a Bible word
search. So we start with opening the search function (
binoculars) then entering a search word, and pressing "Search".
The image at left shows a search on the KJVR (Red letter Edition), for
the phrase "Son of God". At this point you would click on the bible icon
on the right.
At this point you will be presented with the Verse List Dialog Box.
This allows you to create a verse list file. Notice the two options on
the top left: Create and Add to. Create makes a verse list file with the
title what is in the space after it, and you can change the name to some
more easier to remember or something more representative if you so
desire.
Add to has a drop down box to select to which file you want to add
your verses to.
In the verse listing below this box, you will see all the verses with
a part of that verse after it. The check box is to include or not
include a specific verse. Click on any verse and you will see it in the
bottom box.
How to Load a Pre-existing
Verse List - You will need
to find the verse list controls on the menu bar below the menu. It has a
red Bible, a drop downbox, and two smaller Bibles with arrows on either
side. Click on the Bible red Bible.
Click the large red Bible.
Here you can use the drop down box to load pre-existing verse lists.
Verse lists are found in the e-Sword folder, and verse lists end in the
".lst" extension so that you can find them if you need to back them up.
This popup box simply allows you to switch which verse list is active
and to do some editing on them.
How to Use the Verse Lists
The image at left is what should popup. This is the verse dialog box.
The "Verse List Maintenance" box is to add verses to a list, to edit
the title, or to delete the verse list completely.
The row of icons on the extreme right are (
a plus sign) add a verse to the current list, (
red "x") delete a verse, (
arrow up) move the currently selected verse up, (
arrow down) move the currently selected verse down, and (
numbers and down arrow) order current list in standard Bible order.
The top two icons on the top right of the verse list box, are for
printing the current list of verses or for copying them to the
clipboard.
