I am now going to start RSS feeds (RSS version 2.0) for new e-Sword modules. These will essentially be mirrors from my e-Sword Topic pages. But I am not going to make you wade through a bunch of junk to get to the good stuff. The RSS feed will have the module's description, and then it will have a download link to click on and get it without going any further. I want to put all the modules I can find on this RSS feed system including those I create. At times I list modules which I personally think are of interest to only a small minority of people therefore they will only show up on the Topics pages and not on the RSS feed. Note that these "news" items will be basically the author's name (who wrote the original work), a brief description where I will try to put the size of the module, version if applicable, number of chapters and number of pages (if available), and a brief description. Please note that I am not in the marketing business (promoting other people's businesses), and that being the case I rarely or never will place any links or recommendations to modules which are for purchase. If I sell something, it will be mine, and at present I have nothing for sell, especially relating to e-Sword. Therefore you can look on your own for links to modules which are for purchase. How to set up the RSS feeds There are literally hundreds of ways to set up the RSS feeds using what is called an aggregator, but I think the easiest is to simply use the Firefox brower and click on it. I would recommend you use something like RSS Ticker, go here https://addons.mozilla.org/es-ES/firefox/addon/2325 and download the addon for Firefox that will install an automatic RSS reader at the bottom of your browser, and when there are new modules (posts to the RSS xml file) they will automatically appear. Click on the post (they slide slowly from side to side) and download the module or mark as read to not see it again. Right click on the bar to edit the options (or alternatively if there are no new feeds, go to Firefox Browser menu, Tools, Addons) and look for RSS Ticker. Doing this will allow you to see in any browser window the new e-Sword modules as they are posted.
If you use Microsoft Outlook, or most of the other email clients, they will allow you to add a News & Blog feed. This is essentially what they call it. Adding this feed to your News Aggregator You do this once you have a news Aggregator installed and working. Please note that this will install my feed to your News Aggregator. The file you need to note and enter in your news aggregator is rssfeed.xml. You will need to refer to documentation within your news Aggregator program in how to further set up things. Frequency of News Quite frankly some people think that you need to send out information every week or it isn't worth it. This is an alternative to an email list of announcements. At times I may put up a half dozen or more modules in a week, and some announcements every now and then. Don't be surprised if I don't send out anything for a month or more. I am a pastor and missionary and at times my attention needs to be elsewhere. If you think it has been a lot time since you have seen anything, email me and see what's up. Maybe I forgot, or maybe things aren't working. Can't hurt to ask. Probably more often than not, I uploaded modules and forgot to add them to the feed. |
